THE 50 FOOT PUTT by Jeff Symmonds
Congratulations, you've hit the 197 yard par 3 green in regulation! But, how long is that birdie putt? More than likely
it's in that 45 to 55 ft range. If only that 2-putt for par was a little easier, think of the strokes you would save on
your round. How many greens did you hit on your last 18 holes? How many times were you inside 20 feet?
Next time your at the practice green, take 10 minutes. Pace off 50 feet from any hole. using only one ball, see how
many times you can 2-putt (or less!) from 50 feet. If you can 2-putt 7 times or more out of 10 tries, you are on your
way to being a better putter. You will get the feel for speed and direction. And, just like on the golf course, you
hate to miss that second putt! Remember, a solid putter beats a solid ball striker every time.
